Beltangady: Lone tusker on rampage destroys Kargil forest, farm lands

Beltangady, Mar 6: A lone tusker, which has stationed itself in Dhumbettu vicinity of Mundaje village since a week is repeatedly raiding the Kargil forest, other nearby farmlands and destroying crops.

On the night of Friday, the pachyderm destroyed countless arecanut and plantain plants.

It entered the farmland of Ravindra Marate and damaged 20 arecanut trees, plantains and pipeline. It also damaged a portion of Mundaje vented dam.

The tusker entered the Kargil forest, a farmland that is dedicated to the martyrs of Kargil war by Sachin Bhide, for three continuous days and destroyed the solar fence, poles, gates and unique plants that are spread over an area of 4 acres.

    These lone tuskars usually comes on search of their female partners .. Whatever they see they will destroy. Better to be avoid the confrontation with them .
