Beltangady: Illegal cattle trafficking - three held, vehicle confiscated

Beltangady, Mar 9: The police personnel, on Monday March 7, arrested three persons accused of illegally transporting cattle in a pick-up vehicle without any licence at Ichchila in Ujire village. The cattle as well as the vehicle used for transportation were taken into possession.

The arrested accused happen to be Mujeeb Rahiman (27) from Ajakuri, Dharmasthala, Sulaiman (65) from Ajakuri, and Raju (40) from Mysuru Tonachikoppal, who currently resides in Ajakuri.

After getting reliable information that a cow and a calf were being illegally transported in a pick-up vehicle through Soorya temple road in Nada village, Beltangady police personnel reached Ichchila circle in Ujire village when they saw the said pick-up truck. When the vehicle was stopped and checked, they found that cattle were illegally being transported. The three persons accompanying the cattle were arrested, and the cow and its calf along with pick-up truck valued at two lac rupees were confiscated. A case was registered in Beltangady police station.
