Mangaluru, March 9: A campaign to donate blankets and other essentials to cover the body to the roadside destitute under the aegis of the Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike advisor Francis Rasquinha concluded on Wednesday, March 6.
The campaign to distribute the body coverings to the destitute and extremely poor people who have been sleeping on roadsides at nights braving cold and breeze in the various wards of the city was conducted to protect them from sickness by Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike founder president Yogish Shetty of Jeppu and other office bearers since January 23, this year. Nearly one thousand coverings have been distributed during the last two months.
The valedictory of the campaign was inaugurated by international honorary president David Frank Fernandes and Durgananda Swamy of Shivagiri Math Madyar at Mangalore City Corporation centre for the destitute on March 6 at 5 pm.
David Frank Fernandes distributed the bed coverings to several destitute and the poor in the meeting. He said that the service to the poor is equal to service to the Almighty. He called on all to live a life of humanity.
Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike’s J Ibrahim, Jyothi Jain, Cletus Lobo, Harish Shetty, Joseph Lobo and Roshan Gaitan were present.
Central office secretary Prashanth Bhat Kadaba compered the programme. Shelter centre’s M P Shenoy proposed a vote of thanks.
