Belthangady, March 9: Cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.4 lac is reported missing from the house at Kulenady, Neria village situated in Dharmastala police station limits.

Chandravati (44) is residing with her family at Kulenady. She had obtained a loan of Rs 2,47,000 from Dharmastala Grama Abhivridhi Yojane group on November 24, 2021. She had kept Rs 65,000 out of the amount in the wardrobe in her bedroom. She had also kept a gold necklace weighing 24 grams in the jewellery box and a gold chain with a gold pendant with S mark in another box of gold ornaments in the wardrobe on September 6, 2021.

She went to get the money at about 9 AM on March 8, 2022 but found that the cash was missing. She also did not find the gold necklace and gold chain kept by her. Unidentified thieves have stolen the cash and the gold ornaments between 10 PM on September 6, 2021 and 9 am on March 8, 2022.

Chandravati has suspected that Sachin, her nephew who used to frequent their house has stolen the cash and the gold. The value of stolen gold is about Rs 1,75,000. The total value of the stolen items is Rs 2,40,000.

A police case under serial No. 192/2022 is registered at Dharmastala police station under sections 454, 457 and 380 IPC on the basis of complaint lodged by Chandravati.
