Puttur: Godown stocking agricultural produce goes up in flames - Loss Rs 6 lac

Puttur, Mar 10: A unit in Soorambail, Uppinangady where agricultural produce from the farm was stored, caught fire and turned into ashes. This incident happened on Wednesday March 9. Loss due to this fire has been estimated at six lac rupees.

The incident happened in a farm owned by Soorambail Shantaram Bhat. The family, after waking up on Wednesday morning, noticed that fire was raging in the said unit. Immediately the locals and fire brigade were sounded. An all-out effort was launched with the support of locals to douse the fire but the fire could not be brought completely under control. The fire brigade which came on the scene later, extinguished the flames completely.

However, everything stored in the unit had been charred by then. A preliminary estimate is that the loss is over six lac rupees. Revenue and police officials visited this spot, scrutinized the details and recorded the same.
