Kundapur, Mar 11: The government has approved a plan to build flyovers, underpass, service road construction etc wherever necessary on the national highway stretch between Kundapur and Byndoor. In addition, instructions have also been issued to complete pending works on priority basis.

A team of officials of the National Highways Authority of India Mangaluru led by project director Ninge Gowda, which visited the spot on Thursday March 10 promised to send an estimate for the works soon.

During the visit of union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari to Mangaluru, MP B Y Raghavendra, had drawn his attention to the need to develop Maravanthe beach and to complete the highway works between Kundapur and Shiroor early. The minister had given his nod for them on the spot based on which the officials visited the spot to prepare detailed project report. Former chief minister, Yediyurappa, and MP had also written to the centre on the issue.

Now, underpasses or flyovers at five important junctions on the highway at Tallur, Hemmady, Trasi, Yadthare and near Byndoor taluk office, and service road at Shiroor town and near Neergadde and street lights are proposed. The team verified these proposals.

Two engineers of National Highways Authority of India, staff of contractor firm, IRB Construction, Peer Pasha of national highway Shivamogga division, national highway consultants Timma Reddy and Praveen, as well as Venkatesh Kini from Byndoor were present.
