Kolar, Mar 11: In a development which transformed ongoing celebrations into mourning, a bride collapsed at the dais of her reception on Thursday March 10. This incident happened in Kodicheruvu village in Srinivasapura taluk of the district. The parents of the girl who regained their senses, donated her organs and helped four people to get a new lease of life.

Chaitra (26) from Kodicheruvu village was enjoying a grand reception organized by her parents as part of the wedding ceremony. Even as the guests were wishing the couple well, blessing them and going back after food, the bride suddenly collapsed, never to recover. It is said that her brain stopped functioning. People attribute the death to too much pressure, hunger or because of standing at the same spot for too long.

After she fell on the dais, the bride was rushed to NIMHANS Bengaluru where the doctors found that she was brain dead. They said that the girl could not survive after which the parents decided with tears in their eyes, to donate her organs. State health minister, Dr Sudhakar, who shared his feelings through a tweet at the misfortune that has befallen on the family, has also praised them for saving the lives of many through organ donation and hailed this as a model for the others to emulate. At the same time he regretted the quirk of fate Chaitra's family had to bear with.
