Udupi, Mar16: “Students are disappointed that the court has dismissed the writ petition stating that Hijab is not an essential part,” said Malpe Jamia Masjid Muslim priest Maulana Imranulla Khan Mansuri. He was speaking to the reporters at Udupi Muslim Okkoota office on March 16.

“It is not right for the high court to decide about religion. The court has not given importance to the teachings of Muslim religion. Religious and educational rights are snatched. The verdict is not final. We will proceed to the Supreme Court. The teachings in the Quran are not discussed and argued here,” he said.

students are intelligent and are asking their rights according to the constitution. The educational institute also has responsibilities. The institutes also could think over,” he said.

“Paigambar had advised men to ask their wives, daughters and women in their lives to cover their faces. It prevents their identification and harassment. Allah is most forgiving and sympathetic,” he said.

Abdul Latif Madani, head of Samman counselling said that women should not show their hair as per Shariat. “It states that the hair of women is attractive. We have put our demand in front of the college,” he said.

“Our children wear uniforms and follow their rights as per the constitution. Is it wrong to demand their rights? Hijab custom has been present for a long time. When there were no objections in the past, why now? We are disappointed by the court verdict that Hijab is not compulsory,” he said.

Asked about plans for Karnataka bandh, Mansuri said that they will hold discussions over it. “We do not have a stubborn approach. It is our duty to inform people about religion and the fear of the almighty,” he said.

Religious scholar, Udupi Muslim Okkoota president Ibrahim Saheb Kota, Udupi Jamia Masjid Imam Moulana Rashid Ahmed Umari, Indrali Noorani Masjid Imam Moulana Masihullakhan Kasmi, Muloor’s Hyderali Ahwani Musliar, union Jamat secretary Haji M A Bavu Muloor, Shantinagar mosque Imam Shoukat Ali Razwi, Moulana Zumeer Ahmed Rashadi and Moulana Javed Kasmi were present.

All India Imams’ Council allege conspiracy against Muslim girl students

“The council has stated that the students had not submitted the petition in the court to know if wearing of Hijab is right or wrong. The High court has wrongly allegorised the Muslim rituals and customs. It is a conspiracy to keep Muslim female students away from studies. Quran and the prophet clearly states about covering the head”, stated All India Imam’s council national committee member Jaffer Sadilk Faizi.

“Female students have the right to obtain education together with religious freedom. The high court judgement is discriminatory. It should be reviewed. The High court had intervened unnecessarily in religious matters. It is unfortunate that the court did not provide justice to female students. The Imam’s council supports voluntary bund in the state. What are the problems for the government if Muslim girls wear Hijab? Why does the government adopt a stubborn attitude in the matter? Unjust judgement can never be final. Education without religion is dangerous. Education with religion is humane. Those without religion had hurled stones at the college. The court judgement is a part of Sangh Pariwar’s code. The uniform does not become complete just because the Hijab is kept aside,” stated All India Imam’s council national committee member Jaffer Sadilk Faizi.
