Bengaluru, Mar 18: A social activist, Girish Bhardwaj, has filed a written plea with the state high court (HC) registrar general, seeking to register Suo motu contempt of court petition against Campus Front of India (CFI) state president, Ataulla Punjalkatte for having termed the HC verdict relating to the Hijab controversy as unconstitutional.

He said that in the presence of the media, CFI president Ataulla Punjalkatte has criticized the above judgement and termed it as unconstitutional. Besides, Ataulla also stated that he would support the six individual student petitioners who filed the said case, the petitioner stated.

Bhardwaj also pointed out that one of the petitioner students, Alia Assadi, has stated that the government has made the high court to come out with the above judgement by wielding its control. "These people have been speaking out openly against the high court verdict, and are engaged in misleading the youth and nudging them towards a negative mindset. They are also attacking the democratic values and law. Therefore, the HC should register Suo motu contempt of court petition against the concerned," Bhardwaj has urged.
