Bantwal, Mar 21: In an incident which happened near Pallamajalu, B C Road here on the evening of Saturday March 19, a youth is said to have attempted to rape a school girl. After a complaint was filed in the town police station here, the police arrested the accused and registered a case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Zakir (22) from Pallamajalu has been accused of this act. When a fifth standard girl student was walking by the side of the road towards her home after her tuition class, the accused reportedly approached her and tried to rape her. The family of the girl thereafter filed a complaint in the town police station here.
