Hebri, Mar 23: Shobha (50), resident of Bangrabail House in Perdoor village, was at her home on Tuesday March 22 afternoon, when a man riding his motorbike approached her. The stranger who stopped near the gate of her house wanted to know whether she had any poultry bird for sale. She replied in the negative. He went ahead, duly telling her that he would enquire in a few more houses. A short while later he returned in his vehicle and started to pluck jamun fruits.

Shobha handed over a plastic cover to him and was having a look at the fruits when he suddenly came from behind, stretched his hand, yanked away a golden Mangalasutra chain Shobha was wearing around her neck, and fled from there.

The Mangalasutra chain was weighing four sovereigns and was valued at Rs 1,20,000. A complaint in this connection was registered in Hiriadka police station.
