Bengaluru, Mar 22: The amendments to the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) Act will help in simplifying the payment of compensation to farmers for acquisition of their lands and there will not be any problems, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani informed the State Legislative Assembly on Friday. March 24.

Replying to a question from Congress member N A Harris, he said the necessary laws of State and Union Governments were different so far. This anomaly has been resolved through the recent amendment to the KIADB Act and compensation for land acquisition to farmers will be paid without any delays.

Nirani said the Deputy Commissioners concerned and or the Special Officer of KIADB will decide the compensation amount in the Land Compensation Advisory Committee after negotiating with the farmers after issuance of notification under Section 28/4 of KIADB Act for the land being acquired.

The minister said farmers purchasing agricultural land after the acquisition of their lands will be eligible 50% waiver in the stamp duty subject to the cost not exceeding the compensation amount. They will also be eligible complete waiver of the registration fee, he said.

He also explained that the farmers will be provided with developed industrial land to the extent of 10,781 sq.ft, instead of the previously fixed 9,583 sq.ft. in lieu cash compensation. The farmers will also get the benefit of 50% waiver in the stamp duty subject and complete waiver of the registration fee towards grant of developed industrial land.

232 industries allotted land in Mysuru

In reply to Dr Yatheendra Siddaramaiah (Congress), the minister said as many as 232 industries have been allotted land in the Adakanahalli and Tandya industrial area in Mysuru district during the last three years for which KIADB had acquired land.

The major industrial undertakings will have to implement the industrial projects within 3 years of land allotment while mega, ultra mega and super mega industrial units will have to commence within 5 years of the land allotment.

Nirani said as many as 154 farmers, whose lands were acquired, have been given jobs and others will be given jobs even in other units, if they were ready to take them up. One person in each family whose lands were acquired is eligible for getting jobs, he added.
