Udupi, Mar 25: The Udupi divisions of Postal Joint Council of Action (PJCA), National federation of Postal Employees (NFPE)All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union (AIGDSU) , National Union of Gramin Dak Seraks (NUGDS) have given a call for a strike on March 28, supporting the nationwide protest against union government policies, mainly privatization.

Praveen Jathan, chairman of Postal Joint Council of Action (PJCA) addressing the press meet, held at Udupi press club here on Friday, March 25, said that, “The postal employees unions will put forth around 23 major demands. There are 958 postal employees working in the district. GDS (Gramin Dak Sevaks) are deprived of government facilities."

The protest will be held on March 28 at 8.30 PM in front of Head post office in city.

"The postal employees demand to restore the old pension scheme. Now the government is going to make privatization. Let's stop the privatization and withdraw the Dak Mitra scheme. During the lockdown we have served and risked our lives to ensure medicines to many families. Though India has the largest network connectivity in postal, but due to the poor network, the services or work performances are also slow. Because of this issue, work efficiency of employees will slow down. The government should fill the vacant posts. The government should stop the harassment of officials in the name of unscientific, business targets, login and other procedures. The postal employees will highlight the anti-employees policies in the protest," he said.

Sauhasa, convener, Postal Joint Council of Action, Ratnakar NairyVandar, divisional secretary, NUGDS, and others were present.
