Kundapur, Mar 25: The glorious Manmaharotsava of the ancient and historic Mookambika temple concluded on Friday, March 25. Devotees from across the country arrived in large numbers for the celebrations.

The festival was celebrated in the morning after the rituals, hoisting the idol of the deity on Brahma chariot and pulling it till the Ganapathi temple on the street. It was pulled till Shankerashrama in the evening as part of the celebrations. Though there are government guidelines relating to Covid for festival celebrations, thousands of devotees of the Mookambika deity took part in the festivities without paying attention to them.

Special celebrations were held every day after the festivities began with prayers to Ganapathi deity on March 18. Mayoorarohanotsava was held on March 19,
Dolarohonatsava on March 20, Pushpamantaparohonatsava on March 21, Vrashabharonotsava on March 22, Gajarohanotsava on March 23, Simharahanotsava on March 24, Ratharohana and Rathavarohana were held in the morning and evening on March 25.

Various rituals and poojas were performed under the leadership of temple tantri Ramachandra Adiga. Priests N Govinda Adiga, N Subrahmanya Adiga, Vigneshwara Adiga and Suresh Bhat were present.

Temple managing committee president Chandrashekar Shetty Kedradi, executive S P B Mahesh, assistant executive officer Govinda Naik, managing committee members Gopalakrishna Nada, Dr Atulkumar Shetty, Jayananda Hobalidar, Belve Ganesh Kini, Rathna Ramesh Kunder, K P Shekar, Sandhya Ramesh, former members Chuchi Narayana Shetty, Vandaballi Jayaram Shetty and Ramesh Ganiga were present.

Only Hindu traders on Car Street and the vicinity opened their business outlets during the festivities. The sources said that the traders belonging to other religions were convinced not to run their business during the celebrations in order to maintain peace.
Strict security was arranged in the leadership of Byndoor police circle inspector Santhosh Kaikini, sub inspectors Sridhar Nayak, Sadashiva Gavarooji and Iranna Shiraguppi.
