Sullia: Runaway car hits bike, rickshaw - Driver arrested

Sullia, Mar 26: In an incident reported from Paladka near Aramboor in the taluk, a car hit an auto rickshaw and a motorbike before fleeing.

The Maruti car in question was being driven by a person from Aletty Gargunja on the evening of Friday March 2 when it hit a motorbike and its owner, Sachin, who was standing by the side of his vehicle. Sachin was injured and the bike was damaged. The driver then turned the car towards Sullia. He hit the auto rickshaw being driven by Ravi Kanakamajalu who was returning home after work, at Kumbalacheri Kundalpady, The rickshaw was overturned as a result. Nalinaksha from Adyaar and Ashok from Mulya, who were inside the auto rickshaw, were injured. The villagers admitted the injured into a hospital immediately.

The driver continued to drive the car without stopping towards Aletty Kornadka. The police chased him and intercepted the vehicle at Kornadka. The car was confiscated and its driver was taken into custody, it is learnt.
