Bantwal, Mar 27: A met a watery grave after falling into a well in a failed bid to save a chick.

Vasantha Mugeira (37), son of late Mudda Mugeira and a resident of Madaramoole, is the unfortunate victim.Vasantha used to work as a labourer with an electrical contractor of Uppala. He did not go to work on Saturday and private buses of Kerala had called for a strike.

Around 4 PM on Saturday, he was trying to save a chick that had fallen into the well in front of his house. He fell into the 70-feet deep well as its wall collapsed.Mortal remains of Vasantha were fished out of the well by the Friends Vittal team led by Muralidhar Vittal. A case in this connection is registered in Vittal police station.
