Chitradurga, Mar 28: The old temple dedicated to Lord Veeranjaneya that was standing inside the new KSRTC bus stand at Holakere in the district was demolished by the municipal staff on Sunday March 27. The idol of the Lord was shifted to the newly built temple.

KSRTC bus stand at a cost of 8.84 crore was built sometime back. However, because of the fact that a temple stood inside the bus stand and devotees used to frequent it, the bus stand inaugural was held up. KSRTC had asked the temple committee to clear the temple building but it did not oblige. It went to court and succeeded in getting stay order.

On March 19, the court cleared the stay order. Chief officer of the municipality, A Wasim, said that several times notices had been issued to the temple committee pointing out that the temple stood in an unauthorized site. After the court order, in the interests of the general public, the temple was cleared and the idol was shifted to the newly built temple, he added.
