Udupi, Mar 28: Navashakti Sanjivini, the Grama Panchayat Level Federation received the ‘District’s Best Sanjivini Rural Panchayat Level Federation Award 2021-22’ for the outstanding performance of the Self-Help Group workers from deputy commissioner Kurma Rao, at a an event held at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Canara Circle office, Manipal here on Monday, March 28.
Addressing the a skill development training programme was organised for the Sanjivini at gram panchayat level for federations and sub committees in collaboration with the zilla panchayat, Udupi National Rural Livelihood drive, Jal Jeevan Mission, Udupi, District Legal Service and Sessions Court, Udupi and Canara Bank, Circle office, Manipal, he said,"The Sanjivini SHGs are doing a great job. Whatever the new projects launched in Udupi, it will rise as a model project to the state. This is made possible with the help of workers as they were involved honestly in their work. They need these kind of awareness programmes to sensitize them on various issues. Let's go with the same spirit in the days to come."
Dr Naveen Bhat Y, CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayat Udupi said, "The mission started with a slogan."Don’t be an employee but be an entrepreneur." Sanjivini is doing many new programmes in just one year. More than 20 Sanjivini Santhe (fair) were conducted. This project is encouraging women to become independent and self-reliant in terms of work. Sanjivini is promoted to install stalls, canteens, farming in barren land, food courts, animal husbandry and so on. More than 40 new projects were launched. There is a plan to have two nurseries in each taluk, Sanjivini parlour and supermarkets, which are headed by the SHGs.
Sharmila, senior civil justice and member of District Legal Services, Ram Naik, general manager, Canara Bank Circle, Manipal also addressed the gathering.
Babu M, project director, zilla panchayat, Udupi delivered the keynote address.
Prabhakar Acharya, district programme manager, NRLM proposed a vote of thanks and James D’Silva, assistant project officer, ZP, Udupi proposed a vote of thanks.
