Korea Open badminton: Han Yue, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting suffer early exits


Suncheon (South Korea), Apr 5 (IANS): China's Han Yue and Olympic bronze medalist Anthony Sinisuka Ginting lost in the women's singles and men's singles respectively here on Tuesday in the first round of the BWF World Tour Korea Open.

Han lost to Indian Malvika Bansod 20-22, 22-20, 21-10 while top seed Ginting of Indonesia was knocked out by Lucas Claerbout of France 21-16, 21-13.

Elsewhere in the women's singles, Olympic champion Chen Yufei smashed Phittayaporn Chaiwan of Thailand 21-12, 21-14.

Fourth seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand beat Jeon Jui of South Korea 21-14, 21-13. Sixth seed Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong took an easy win over Tereza Svabikova of the Czech Republic 21-10, 21-8.

In the men's singles, China's Weng Hongyang defeated South Korean Heo Kwanghee 21-12, 21-16, reports Xinhua.

In the men's doubles, fourth seeds Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia beat Na Gwangmin and Noh Jinseong of South Korea 21-16, 21-12. Malaysian duo Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, as sixth seeds, edged out Indian pair Bokka Navaneeth and B. Sumeeth Reddy 21-14, 21-12.

In the mixed doubles, Kang Minhyuk and Baek Hana of South Korea defeated Ty Alexander Lindeman and Josephine Wu of Canada 22-20, 23-21.
