M K Lokesh – the Indian Ambassador to the UAE was the chief guest of the evening. The programme was loaded with exciting skits, song and dance performances by the tiny tots, which captured the hearts of the audience.  These tiny tots were trained to perform brilliantly, giving a colourful ambience by their dedicated teachers and helpers, who had strived hard to achieve this

.The programme included sound of music, pongalo pongal, Al gaba Asghera song, fairy tale fiesta, poonam vara vae, fulful, Bollywood Dhamaka, and icing on cake was the final carnival performance ‘ viva Carnival’.  The performers were between the ages of 3 – 6 which made the difference. The performance highlighted the rich culture of various states of India.

The achievers for the year 2010 – 2011 were honoured by the chief guest Lokesh. In his address he applauded the management, the principal Sylvia Pais, and the teachers for their excellent effort in training these small children.  He added saying the teachers and parents effort in training and developing these tiny tots in their formative years to be better citizens was commendable.  He appreciated the dedication of the teachers and staff of the school.

It is worth mentioning that the Kindergarten school was established in 1977, nearly three decades ago by the initiative taken by Salma Ansari the wife of then ambassador to the UAE and the current vice president of India Mohammed Hamid Ansari under the banner of ILA.

The Kindergarten was run by the Indian Ladies Association till 2005 when it came under the patronage of Indian Embassy.  Due to the regulatory changes imposed by the Government of Abu Dhabi, the schools management was taken over by Dr B R Shetty, the well known businessman of UAE, under the request of the Indian Embassy with the name International Community Kindergarten (ICK), imparting value added education to the young ones.

ICK is a name to reckon with as an institution of academic excellence and outstanding quality care.  The school recognizing the growing needs of the Indian Community is planning to expand, so that its students could continue their academic journey with them.  In fact the vision of Dr B R Shetty, the managing director of NMC Group of Companies was that ICK should move beyond kindergarten section and become a full fledged school to serve the community lessening the burden for parents to search for other schools, and lot of efforts have been exerted towards in this direction with the regulatory authorities to make it happen and the school authorities are confident to achieve this dream.

ICK focuses on providing a platform to showcase their talent and discover a new aspect of their personality, and evident when out of its 630 strength of children nearly 400 of them performed on stage, an outstanding feat indeed.  This was possible only because of the dedicated team of teachers and support staff. The days programme concluded with National Anthem of both UAE and India.
