Abu Dhabi: Aircraft Crashes in Al Ain; 4 Dead
Abu Dhabi, Feb 28(WAM): The General Civil Aviation Authority of United Arab Emirates has confirmed that a “Grumman 21T” aircraft enroute to Saudi Arabia from Al Ain crashed evening at Al Ain Airport.
According to a statement of GCAA the aircraft departed from Al Ain International airport for Riyadh in Saudi Arabia at 16: 07 UTC ( 20:07 local time) and shortly after liftoff the aircraft veered to the left and crashed on taxiway kilo. 4 people died in the accident.
The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and subsequent fire, the statement added.
The airport fire & rescue services responded immediately and the accident site was secured by the Al Ain Police.
A GCAA Air Accident Investigation team which was dispatched to the area without delay is leading the investigating into the accident.
