Mangalore, Mar 3: Providing security to women should be the responsibility of everyone. Though laws for women are prevailing that has also brought somewhat power to them, women are not living in secured society even today, said Madhu Bhushan of Vimochana, a forum of women’s rights, Bangalore while expressing her thoughts in the inaugural speech at women convention organized as part of 101st international women’s day celebration at Town Hall by Mahila Sanghagala Jala (MSJ) on Thursday March 3.

She said that marriage which is supposed to be considered as social institution, unfortunately restrained women from obtaining their rights. In most cases the desire with which girls enter into wedlock, are reported to be a dream. Marriage has turned to be a regulatory factor in the male dominant society, she emphasized.

Earlier post marriage death cases among women were reported once in three days in Bangalore alone, but now every day at least 3 death cases are reported in Bangalore which in itself is an alarming factor to the modern society. Some vested interests and fundamentalists have curbed rights of women in all region, she expressed.

Dr Rita Noronha, director, SSW Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore in her keynote address said that sorrowful life of women particularly in Dakshina Kannada is the story of all rising above caste creed and region. She said to the gathering that all women from various places and background who have gathered at the convention should know their rights and level of freedom. There is increased number of girls and women working in various professions in the society. Number of women unions has mounted up. But the level of respect being given to them is not matching the level what they actually deserve, she said. She anticipated that this ‘Jala’ (Net) should be a centre for exchange of thoughts and ideas.

Before the commencement of the stage programme, a jatha was taken out from Jyothi circle to Town Hall. The inauguration was done in an unique way in which female of all age group including an infant and elders ascended the dais and unveiled the stage programme open.

Shailaja Bhat, president of DK zilla panchayat presided. Shakuntala A, deputy director, women and child welfare department and Dr Jacintha D’Souza, principal, Roshni Nilaya were the guests.

Later women representatives of several local women unions presented paper on local issues through various sessions. Merlyn Martis, Ddrector, Deeds Mangalore welcomed the gathering.

Valedictory ceremony will be held at 4.30 pm.

Mr. Santhosh, we are talking about Indian women and the Secular State of India.. From where did Saudi Arabia and Islam come into the discussion. I think its best if you leave religion out of this discussion.

Mr Felix, its very easy to blame women for their own downfall, but women alone are not to be blamed, men have an equal, and probably more share in it. Men suffer no doubt, but wen it divorced and widowed women find it much much harder to get married than men do. It is men who fool naive and innocent girls into loving them, make them leave their family to elope with them and then leave those very girls on the road. such boys wil be happily accepted back in their families, but what about the girl?
Mr. Felix, if women did not learn to adjust or suffer their pains in silence, then no house would be in peace, give them some credit for it. They alone are not to be blamed for their downfall, so blaming anyone is of no use. instead, support and encourage them to stand up for what is right.

My comments were not talking bad about women, nor wanting to shed crocodile tears, reading the sufferings of women pointed out during the womens day celebrations.

They were in my opinion, facts, which caused part of the sufferings of many women.

If women were to unite against men, like, ONE FOR ALL, & ALL FOR ONE,"
The case would have been, it would have been " Mens sufferings has NO BOUNDERIES. Meaning women refusing to marry divorced men, with history of domestic violence. and the like

A recent study shows, many women accept sufferings and even beating at home, without retaliation, not because becase they are weak, but to protect from social stigma, and family name. Thank you,

Sanober - Mangalore how true your words are and you Mr. Felix you are one of those men described in Sanober's message. Before talking bad about women, please think how good you are to women. Your message shows that you have no love, empathy or respect for women.

In the article the women speaker clearly says even today women are not safe to walk alone in the streets which are very much visible in our own society in the 21st century. Women are a mother, women are a house manager, women are a care taker of husband and children, women haves strong will power in the work place, women are uncorrupt, sincere and lovely. I support every cause's woman and may God bless them abundantly.

The aspiring brides and bride grooms should know the conduct of each other not the wealth. If the couples are loveable, trustworthy to each other and living truthfully that is a peaceful life. Suppose a person is addicted to alcohol, cigarettes, illicit affairs, smuggling business, robbing desires, deceiving and gambling activities humans will acquire wealth but they cannot buy peaceful life. Jesus clearly says for both men and women
Matthew 19:9. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

You are right Mr. Felix, woman truly is her own enemy. She loves and trusts her parents and their decisions blindly and they give her away to the wrong family with a cruel mother-in-law and greedy husband, and she never utters a word to her parents. She loves and cares for her husband to such an extent that even when he attacks her in greed for dowry or in a drunken state, she wont try to protect herself. she loves her child with blind motherly affection and when he leaves her in old age homes for his wife, she suffers in silence and dies alone. truly women are their own enemies.
their love for the people around them especially their parents who bring them up saying women should be calm, quiet and suffer in silence makes them incapable of confronting the people who hurt them. They truly are selfish creatures to think that when they give infinite love anyone, they will get that love in return.

Women are bolder, intellignet, mentally stronger, in any field than men.

But their downfall or in abiltiy to confront men in equal footing is due to their own, inabilty to combat their lone enemy -"women".

Women are their own worst enimies, meaning mother in law against daughter in law,Mother in law controlling the freedom of daughter in law, One woman against another, Competing among themsleves, to attract men, sister in laws against sister in laws, just to name a few, and unless and untill, they can over come their own short commings, sufferings of women certainly will have NO BOUNDERIES.

And it is no use to ask any one else give them security, which they have discarded, due to their own selfish thinking.
