Bengaluru, Jul 30: Congress and JD (S) expressed anguish over chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai not paying visit to the house of Masood, who was killed by assailants and only visiting the family of slain BJP leader Praveen.
Giving separate statements on the issue, former CMs Siddaramaiah and H D Kumaraswamy said that the behaviour of Bommai violates the oath he has taken as chief minister of the state, under the constitution of India.

Speaking on the matter, Siddaramaiah said, “First Bommai needs to clarify whether he is the chief minister for six and half crore Kannadigas or only for BJP workers. What is the reason he did not pay visit to the house of Masood? Whatever amount BJP gives to their party workers is left to them. But when announcing compensation for cases that are investigation stage, CM should take care that no discrimination is done.”
Criticising the move of CM Bommai, former CM Kumaraswamy said, “When Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the PM, he asked all politicians to follow Rajadharma. But present BJP government is not following even the simple ‘Sarve Janaa Sukhino Bhavanthu’ statement. Killing someone is not the answer for a murder. The move of chief minister is provocative. He should have visited the houses of both Masood and Praveen and thereby sent strong message to the killers.
“In order to hide his administration failure, Bommai is chanting the mantra of Bulldozer policy. He is saying that Yogi Adityanath is his model. Uttar Pradesh administration cannot be model to any state in India. It is the height of negligence and irresponsible handling of matters. Only those who do not believe in constitution speak of bulldozers,” he said.
