Mishra Stars in Pune Warriors's Win Over Kochi Tuskers

Navi Mumbai, April 14 (IANS) Riding on a cameo from Mohnish Mishra, Pune Warriors maintained their unbeaten run in the battle of Indian Premier League (IPL) debutants with a four-wicket win over Kochi Tuskers Kerala here Wednesday.Mishra struck an unbeaten 21-ball 37 as Pune Warriors made 151 for six with seven balls to spare while chasing Kochi Tuskers Kerala's 148 for eight in 20 overs.

With the win, Pune Warriors moved to the top spot in the points table with four points from two matches while Kochi Tuskers are languishing at the ninth spot with two losses from as many matches.

While chasing, Pune Warriors were in real trouble at 73 for four in the 12 over. But Mishra and Robin Uthappa (31) added 42 valuable runs for the fifth wicket to take the Warriors home safely. Mishra was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Uthappa's 13-ball innings took the match completely away from Kochi Tuskers, who looked like pulling off their maiden win in the IPL after Brad Hodge had Pune Warriors' skipper Yuvraj Singh (8) caught behind.

But from then on, both Mishra and Uthappa played some big shots to steal the match away from the Tuskers. Uthappa played in his typical style, hitting three fours and two sixes while Mishra took the first five balls of Muttiah Muralitharan's penultimate over of the match for 16 runs as the Tuskers suffered their second successive defeat.

Earlier in the day, opting to bat first, Kochi Tuskers got to a competitive total of 148 for six thanks to a gutsy 47 from Ravindra Jadeja.

Brad Hodge (39), Raiphi Gomex (26) and Parthiv Patel (21) also came up with valuable knocks.
