Udupi, Apr 18: Sunday April 17 was world haemophilia day, a day dedicated to those suffering from the disorder. Haemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder due to the deficiency of clotting factors viii or ix.

To mark the day, members of Manipal Sand Art and artists' forum Srinath Manipal and Ravi Hirebettu sculpted a design out of sand with the message, 'Save Our Siblings' at Turtle Bay beach, Maravanthe.

The idea was part of Asha Kiran 2011, a camp for patients with haemophilia and their families, organized by the Manipal haemophilia society, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal University.

The aim of the sculpture was to show support to haemophilia patients around the world.
