Hubballi: Repeated calls from dejected lover inconvenience airport staff

Daijiworld Media Network - Hubballi (MS)

Hubballi, Feb 12: It is difficult to assess whether this is a ruckus created by a dejected lover or negligence of the police and security department. But there is a danger of occurrence of a serious aviation accident waiting to happen in the airport of this busy city.

Roy Dias (26), a native of Goa, is making thousands of threat calls to this airport in the city. He not only calls the staff of the airport, but also makes calls to the sensitive and most vital air traffic control room and disrupts their work. He is calling repeatedly from various internet numbers and causing headache to the staff of this airport.

Roy Dias

According to background details available for the actions of this person, a girl of Dharwad origin used to work at Dabolim airport of Goa. She and Roy Dias had a love affair for some time. However, due to unavoidable reasons, their relationship came to an end. Later, the girl got transferred to Hubballi airport. Roy Dias went to Dubai. From the time Roy Dias reached Dubai, he is disturbing the chief and other staff of Hubballi airport with threat calls.

Frustrated due to the repeated calls, the staff of the airport had reported the matter to Cyber Crime police in August 2018. However, as there was no improvement in the harassment meted out by Roy, they registered a complaint with the Gokul Road police station of the city. But this too has not yielded any desired result.

Due to the calls of Roy Dias, many a times, the staff has faced issues regarding landing of aircrafts. The police should have taken immediate action as mostly VVIPs land at this airport. However, it is surprising that the police are least bothered about the issue faced by the airport personnel. It is high time that suitable action is taken by the police department to avert any possible accident or mishap at the airport due to the eccentric calls made by Roy Dias.

He must be a psycho type .Nowadays with modern technics one should be able to identify from where calls are coming.so Just send police there and arrest the person and throw in psychic ward .Such newsense maker should be taught a lesson which they later never forget.otherwise best is when such a call comes simply take a conductors pfeife and loudly pfife backso that his ears gets pain .After sometimes he may stop it.It was practiced once I remember to a such stupid caller who was doing such calls.

Now you cannot make free VOIP calls from Dubai/UAE, you need to have proper subscription from the 2 telephone service providers and appropriate software (either side) to make legal VOIP calls and the calling umber is traceable. He must be calling from different public booths and spending money. It may be a good idea to contact Indian Consulate in Dubai and provide his complete details and Indian Consulate can work with Dubai Police and will be able to trace him, if they are serious.

First airport authorities should educate and train staff of personnel devices use. Once they have internal controls in place then follow other procedures for calling and tracking the individual. It is easy to track with new technologies worldwide. It is good to have proper control in place for the airport first for security reason.

Something is not correct here. I do not believe he will call everyone in hubli airport and even air traffic department? One call makes every staff interrupted in doing their job. Staff should focus on their job rather frequently focusing on cell phones and devices . Duties first and conducted at a high security way without using personal phones etc. Any calls should be recieved and messages noted by the reception secretary and passed to traffic control staff during their break time or via secured method. I do not think this airport personal managing their time and technology properly and blame others of their own fault and negligence. People can call but it is airport authorities should be managing such incoming calls to pass on at a correct time. This airport should have to manage standard operating procedures for staff for phones and devices use.

Get his caller ID; if it is not shown, don't pick up the phone, better still pick up and disconnect after a few seconds.

Fall in love or die in love, don't play with the lives of innocent passengers. Police should find out his whereabouts and put behind bars.

Investigating Agencies must be neglecting the issue knowing that such calls are made from a mentally dejected person and not coming from any real terrorist or politically motivated person.
