Udupi, Sep 2: Manipal police have arrested two individuals for the theft of laptops and other valuables from an apartment in Manipal.
The theft was reported at a private apartment in Vidyaratna Nagar, Manipal, under the jurisdiction of the Manipal Police Station.
The stolen items included two laptops valued at approximately Rs 400,000 and an Apple iPod from the residence of Akash C Suryavamshi. A case had been registered at the Manipal Police Station regarding this theft.
A special team was formed under the leadership of Manipal Police Inspector T V Devaraj, consisting of PSI Raghavendra, PSI Akshay Kumari, ASI Vivekananda, HC Imran, HC Sukumar Shetty, and PC Raghu.
On September 2, 2024, the team successfully apprehended the suspects, P Karthik and Balan Govindan, at the Katpadi bus stand in Udupi district. The stolen items, including the two laptops and the Apple iPod, were recovered from the suspects, who have since been taken into judicial custody.
Manipal city has numerous apartment complexes, many of which house students. The suspects took advantage of students' common practice of leaving valuable electronic devices, such as laptops, mobile phones, and iPods, unsecured in their rooms.
The police have advised the public and students to be vigilant and ensure their belongings are securely stored.
