Mangaluru: Pedestrian killed in accident involving city bus

Mangaluru, Jan 17: In an accident which happened on national highway 66 at Baikampady on Thursday January 16, a pedestrian was killed.

The victim has been identified as Sundar Salian (70) from Krishnapura seventh block.

Salian was waiting for bus at Baikampady to go home on Thursday morning when a city bus that was bound from Krishnapura hit him. The bus rammed into him with so much force that Salian was dragged by the bus for some distance before coming to a stop. Salian died on the spot.

The deceased is survived by wife, two sons, and a daughter. He had retired after serving as operator in marine department of New Mangalore Port Trust at Panambur. He was simple and humble and was well-known for his social service activities.
