Mangaluru: Patriotic 74th Independence Day celebrated at Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru, Aug 15: “A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance”

Mount Carmel Central School, here, celebrated the 74th Independence Day of the nation on Saturday, August 15 on the school grounds commemorating the freedom from the clutches of the British.

The chief guest, Sr Maria Anita AC, joint secretary of the school unfurled the national flag, with the singing of the National Anthem and Zanda Geeth. Pramila Dsouza administered the oath pledging the duties of every Indian citizen towards the nation. Evoking the divinity from within to become better citizens, a prayer service was conducted. Expressing the sentiments of gratitude towards incredible India, the teachers performed a welcome dance to the tune of patriotism.



The principal, Sr Melissa, with mixed emotions of joy for the nation and a tinge of sadness on missing out of students, welcomed the gathering heartily. She also thanked the students for their virtual participation in the competitions organized on the occasion of the celebration of the Independence Day.

The vibrant celebration had in it, a skit which expressed eloquently the significance of the tri-coloured flag with a special reference to the principles of life in the Ashok Chakra.
Elevating one’s mind and soul towards patriotism, the teachers danced to the rhythm of Independence. The chief guest, Sr Maria Anita AC, in her speech strongly cited the four key words- Life, joy, freedom and development. She further mentioned that “when we are able to achieve this, one’s life will be reasonable, attractive and acceptable to mind and heart to live as free citizens of our nation”.

Following the address, Hannah, in the vote of thanks delivered gratitude and appreciation to one and all. Richa was swift and short as the master of ceremony.

COVID - 19 pandemic did not deter the spirit of every Indian at Mount Carmel Central School in celebrating the 74th Independence Day. Jai Hind. Love India.

The following competitions related to the theme of 'Independence Day' were organized for the students, class-wise, prior to this day and the participation of students was overwhelming.
