Karkala, Sep 18: Renowned Kambala buffalo, Mode died on Saturday due to a brief illness. It was under treatment for the past two days.
Mode had made considerable achievements in the sport of Kambala winning Hagga (rope) and Negilu (plough) senior and junior sections.
In the Adda Halage section, Mode used to win every time and thus became popular with the Kambala lovers. Prior to its death, Mode was competing in Kambala under the ownership of Trishal K Poojary of Bolar.
As this buffalo belonged to the Karkala Tellaru Nerolkapalke Barke family, Durga-Tellaru name was very popular in Kambala sport.
