Mangalore, May 1: Devotees in large numbers thronged Amrita Vidyalayam in Boloor here to seek the blessing of their beloved Amma, the hugging saint at the meditation-cum-bhajan-satsang programmes on Sunday May 1.
Amma in her message focused on life, spirituality and religion. Drawing parallels with the image of a bird, she said that spirituality and religion are the two wings which help us to fly. The object of education is not to teach the language of machine, rather it should explain the universal phenomenon and help us lead a peaceful and fruitful life, she said.

"Ironically," she said, "Air conditioners are cooling down rooms, but spirituality calms down our mind and results in good mental health."
Stressing on cleanliness, she said the mutt is ready to join hand with the government to construct public toilets. She suggested everyone to carry two handkerchiefs with them which could be used to clean the nose and to spit. She said people should not spit in public places.
About 2,000 houses built in Raichur for flood victims are complete and will be handed over soon, she said.
