Mysore, May 6 (Thatskannada): It is gathered that the tragic deaths of Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, Dorjee Khandu, and Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Y S Rajashekhar Reddy in helicopter crashes, has given rise to a sense of fear in Karnataka chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa.
Yeddyurappa, who used to hop around the state in helicopter, is learnt to have decided to shun helicopter travel at least till the end of this rainy season.
On Thursday May 5, he was to take part in several programmes in Hunsur taluk of the district. The CM refused to take up helicopter travel. Instead, he came to the local airport in Mandakalli by a light aircraft.
When questioned by reporters, the CM said that lot of precautions and procedures need to be followed while undertaking travel by helicopter, and that vagaries of climate are to be taken into account before such sojourns. While lamenting the death of Khandu and praying to the Lord to bless the soul of Khandu, he said he had taken the decision not to use helicopter till the end of the coming rainy season.
It need not come as a surprise if more chief ministers follow suit in course of time.
