Mangalore: State to Get Cheese Production Unit - Somshekar Reddy

Mangalore, May 8: The Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers Union celebrated its silver jubilee at the premises of Mangalore Dairy on Sunday May 8.
Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat inaugurated the programme and laid the foundation stone for upcoming production unit. President of Karnataka Milk Federation G Somashekar Reddy released the 400 grams curd packet.
Speaking on the occasion he said that with the collaboration of New Zealand based company ‘Fonterra’ which is owned by farmers there and which supplies milk products all over the world, a cheese unit will be started in Bangalore. After the board meeting, if the proposal is accepted the unit will be able to produce 50 tonnes of cheese with the annual expenditure of Rs 80 crore, he said.
District in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar honoured the presidents who worked for the welfare of the union, while energy minister Shobha Karandlaje honoured the co-ordinators and directors of the union. Udupi MP D V Sadananada Gowda distributed the prizes for the winners of Nandini quiz contest. Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel honoured the best dealers of the union.
Raviraj Hegde, president of DK Milk Union presided. SCDCC Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar was present.
