Mangalore: Ambulance Meets with Accident – Patient Dies

Mangalore, May 10: A truck belonging to a widely known logistics company hit an ambulance that was taking a patient to the hospital, on Monday May 9 afternoon at Yedapadavu near here. The patient died as a result on the spot, while five others including the ambulance driver sustained serious injuries. All the injured were hospitalized.
Suresh, son of Anni Poojary (65), a native of Beluvai Daregudde and working abroad, had come home because of his father’s ill health. He had arranged for taking Anni Poojary to hospital for treatment relating to his heart-related ailment. At the road bend near Yedapadavu Garodi, a truck hit the ambulance. Ambulance driver, Ayub (20), nurse, Ayesha (35), Sandesh, son of Anni Poojary, Sadashiv and Mahesh, two other inmates of the ambulance, suffered injuries in the accident.
Traffic on the road was affected because of the accident for some time, before the policemen of Bajpe station came on the scene and cleared the road. The ambulance was badly mangled due to the impact of the collision. It is learnt the condition of Ayesha is critical.
Bajpe police have registered a case and begun investigation.
