Mangalore, May 10: St Aloysius PU College student Andrea Preetha Sequeira has bagged 590 marks in the second PU board exams to secure the top place in the commerce stream in the twin districts of coastal Karnataka. She missed the first rank in the state in commerce by just two marks.
Daughter of Alphonse Sequeira who works for Vijaya Bank, and Myriam Sequeira, an employee of Syndicate Bank, Preetha says she studied two hours every day, and a little more during when exams approched. But it is also important to take breaks and relax to refresh the mind, she says, adding that listening to music was her way of unwinding after stressful hours of study.
Andrea has bagged 100 marks in Business Studies, Statistics and Accountancy. She now plans to pursue Chartered Accountancy.
Though she expected to score between 96 and 97 percent, she got more than what she anticipated.
Dakshina Kannada District has bagged the second place in the state with a pass percentage of 86.58, while Udupi bagged the top position with 87.14 percent.
Out of the 6,21,238 students who answered the exam, 3,03,948 passed, with 12,598 achieving distinctions.
