Bantwal, May 11: The priestly ordination ceremony of two Capuchin deacons was held at Most Holy Saviour Church, Agrar, near here on Wednesday May 11.
Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Shimoga diocese ordained deacons Rohan D’Souza and Lancy Fernandes. Both deacons are parishioners of Agrar.
Bishop Gerald I Lobo also delivered a meaningful homily during the Eucharistic celebration.
Agrar parish priest Fr Benjamin Pinto thanked the faithful. Mangala Jyothi director Fr Boniface Pinto organized the liturgical service.
Karnataka Capuchin provincial superior Fr Vincent Furtado and Fr Benjamin Pinto was present on the dais during the stage programme held after the Holy Mass.
Fr Lancy Fernandes was serving as a deacon at St Sebastian parish, Permannur in Mangalore, before the ordination. Fr Rohan D’Souza was serving as a deacon at St Jude parish, Pakshikere.
Kumbla parish priest Fr Alban Rodrigues, and Permannur parish priest Fr Thomas D’Souza were also present.
Several clergies and nuns including faithful were present on the occasion.
Capuchin Fr Joachim D’Souza compered the programme. Fr Rohan and Fr Lancy thanked his superiors and also their parents for nurturing their religious vocation.
Fr Lancy Fernandes will proceed to Sri Lanka on missionary work, while Fr Rohan D’Souza will take charge as vice novice master at Monte Mariano Monastery, Farangipet, here.
