Udupi: Gopal Kharvi’s Feat Enters Limca Book of Records

Udupi, May 13: Swimmer Gopal Kharvi has entered Limca Book of World Records for the year 2011. His feat in swimming 15 kms distance from St Marys Island to Malpe shore on December 20, 2009 in 3 hrs 26 minutes enabled him to find his name in the book. Kharvi had covered the distance, duly tying his hands behind, and chaining his legs.
Gopal Kharvi, a fisherman by profession, is the son of Nagesh Kharvi and Radha Kharvi. He is a native of Kody Kanyana in the district. Because of poverty, he did not pursue education. Since a young age, he was passionate about swimming. He has created several records and has been honoured with Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
Kharvi has set his eyes now on annexing Guinees World Record. He has the talent and determination to make this happen.
