Mangaluru, Nov 18: 69th All India cooperative week was held at Mangala Stadium with the active cooperation of various cooperative organizations of the state.

Cooperative minister S T Somshekhar inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Addressing the gathering, he said, “Keeping the faith of the customers of the state is the proud achievement of the cooperative sector. Yashaswini scheme brought about by the state BJP government was very popular. But it did not progress as it was amalgamated with the health department. Now the scheme is properly implemented after agriculturists and cooperative sector leaders appealed to chief minister.

Rajendra Kumar has shown that if he is instigated, no one can become an MLA. He has united thousands of cooperative sector people in Mangaluru and Uttara Kannada,” he said.

In his address, Deviprasad Shetty Belapu said, “If SCDCC bank has achieved a turnover of Rs 12,800 crore it is because of the working style of Rajendra Kumar. His achievement is pride of cooperatives of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Rajendra Kumar, who has established lac of Navodaya self-help groups is a model to everyone.”

Dr M N Rajendra Kumar was felicitated on the occasion. Speaking after receiving the honour, Rajendra said, “I have been elected as president for the second time because of the blessings of almighty. You are responsible for my growth. It is really proud moment that our district has got Sahakara Ratna award. I thank the minister and the government for the same. Only when all are united victory is possible. Our women of Navodaya self-help group have repaid 100% loan, which is really appreciable.”

MLA U T Khader said, “Only when ten hands are united with one mind success can be tasted. This was possible from the cooperative sector. Because of the day and night efforts of Dr Rajendra Kumar, cooperatives have joined in such large numbers. I congratulate him for the same. KMF is working fine. But by increasing the price of milk suddenly, the BJP government has hit the livelihood of poor people. This should be rectified. I appeal that the government should give subsidy to the milk producers rather than increasing the price of milk. “
