Kundapur, Nov 23: Senior leader of CPI(M) in the district U Dasa Bhandary (80) died due to illness late on Tuesday at his residence in Koni.
He had played a major role in building the labour organisation in the district. Though he was physically assaulted in the struggle during the land reforms, he carried on his work. Bhandary worked hard to form various labour unions. He also strived to provide various benefits of the government to the labourers.
He was also the founder president of building and other construction organisations. He had also served as the member of district committee of CPI(M). Bhandary was also active in agriculture labour organisation. He had also contested as a CPI(M) candidate for Byndoor assembly constituency.
He was taking rest due to illness at his home for a few days. He is survived by wife and three children.
CPI(M), taluk building construction and other organisations and unions have condoled his death.
