Mangalore: Manipal College of Dental Sciences Embarks on Silver Celebration

Mangalore, May 17: The Manipal College of Dental Sciences (MCODS) here embarked on a year-long celebration that will culminate in its silver jubilee to be celebrated in April 2012.
The inaugural function was held at the Dr T M A Pai International Convention Centre on Tuesday May 17.
Dr Dilip Nayak, associate dean, MCODS, Mangalore welcomed the assembly of invitees that included officials of Manipal University, members of the faculty of MCODS and KMC, Mangalore, undergraduate and post-graduate students and alumni.
Dr V Surendra Shetty, dean of MCODS, presented a timeline of the institution that pictorially recalled the various stages in the evolution of MCODS, Mangalore.
Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor of Manipal University, unveiled the logo to commemorate the Silver Jubilee and spoke of the unique and unparalleled distinction of the dean who has continuously nurtured this professional institute from inception till the time it celebrates its silver jubilee.
Dr K Ramnarayan, vice chancellor of Manipal University released the calendar of events to follow in anticipation of the coming silver jubilee. He has also remarked the striking cohesiveness and sense of oneness displayed by the faculty, students and alumni.
Dr Ashwini Rao, professor and head of department community medicine, briefed the assembly regarding the activities of the alumni.
The function ended with the vote of thanks rendered by Dr Kundabala M. The commemorative logo was designed by Dr Srikant N, assistant professor in the department of oral pathology, also an alumnus of the same department.
The logo strategically combines the emblem and familiar abbreviated form of MCODS with the universal appeal of the logo of the Manipal University. The playful airiness in the number 25 suggests the transience that will lead us on to glorious 50.
