"I grew up listening to legendary Wilfy Rebimbus in my childhood. I was very much interested in singing and secured many prizes during my college days for singing. Once my life got busy with future building plans, I was compelled to divert myself from singing to other activities. But when I reached Canada, I was again provoked by my passion. I started singing and acting in community events in Canada. Tulu and Konkani community members residing in Canada supported me a lot and hence I could write, act and direct dramas,” says Leo Rego.
The song ‘Borem Ker Munsha’ is dedicated to the Rego family in Madanthyar, India and in Canada. Inspired by the charity work of Mother Theresa of Missionary of Charity, and Br Joseph of Snehalaya, the song speaks of humanity reminding them of the brevity of life and calling them to do good, spread love, kindness, care and compassion. The lyricist appeals to mankind to stay away from hatred and jealousy and live happily so that the footprints they leave on this earth would be of good deeds which will live on even when they depart this earth.
"I hope the song 'Borem Ker Munsha' will reach the hearts of the listeners and it will make them think on where they stand. At this time of release of my first song, I thank all who were a part of this project. Meanwhile, I thank the members of MAC (Mangalorean Association of Canada), Canara World Foundation, Mangaloreans in Canada (MIC) Tulukoota Canada, Konkani TV and Radio Mango. Their support has made me an achiever in art. I thank my family members, relatives and well-wishers who are spread across the globe. I consider their support as always a blessing to me,” adds Leo.
