UAE, May 22: Nurses if properly trained are very adept in handling situations of great stress and demand, and failing to recognize their potential is a serious misgiving in part of the healthcare authorities, said Jameela Khalaf Al Houssani, District Director-Nursing, Ministry of Health, Ajman. She inaugurated the Health Awareness Exhibition organized by the Nursing Department of GMC Hospital Ajman, recently.
The exhibition was held as part of the ongoing International Nurses Day celebrations at GMC Hospital, Ajman and was open for public. School children and staff from various companies attended the exhibition and the nurses educated them on various health issues.
Jameela Khalaf Al Houssani praised the high standards of the nurses and their dedication towards their profession. Nursing as a profession in very sacred and nurses are being seen as a major
backbone of any hospital, she said.
The GMC Hospital nurses are celebrating the Annual Nurses Day which began with the exhibition. Later they were administered with a professional oath during the Lamp Lighting Ceremony which was graced by Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of the Gulf Medical University.
Cultural Festival
The Annual Nurses Cultural Festival was also held, recently where in the GMCH Nurses demonstrated their talent by hosting a special cultural show and displayed their talents in singing, dance and drama. The evening’s Chief Guest was Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Gulf Medical University and GMC Hospital.
In his address, he said that he is proud of the nursing department and assured them of complete support in enhancing their professionals skills. He envisaged that the intake of nurses over the next two years will be doubled with addition of new hospitals and facilities by Thumbay Group.
Continuing Nurses Education Seminar
The celebrations will culminate with a Continuing Nursing Education Seminar on Evidence Based Practice in Nursing to be held at Gulf Medical University Campus in Ajman on Friday May 27.
Leading experts from all over UAE will be addressing the delegates during the seminar. Over 300 nurses are expected to participate in the seminar which will be accredited by the Ministry of Health.
