Tata's 'Remarks' on Mukesh Ambani Home Sparks Controversy

London/Mumbai, May 22 (PTI) Ratan Tata's purported remarks expressing surprise at fellow industrialist Mukesh Ambani living in a billion-dollar mansion in Mumbai has sparked off a controversy today.

The Tata group Chairman was quoted by London's Times newspaper as having said, "It makes me wonder why someone would do that. That's what revolutions are made of. The person who lives in there should be concerned about what he sees around him and [asking] can he make a difference.

"If he is not, then it's sad because this country needs people to allocate some of their enormous wealth to finding ways of mitigating the hardship that people have."

Tata, who bought the British steel maker Corus and car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said, the widening gap between the rich and the poor in India worried him.

"We are doing so little about the disparity.

How much a-each-one-of-us give away from little we have? In comparison, Mukesh Ambani must have given away already equally. To give away more or everything is upto ones own wishes, liberty and freedom. What comes to each one through ones hardwork, is what one deserves and should be happy with. A share from little what is given away by others should bring in more happiness (is one feels so). It is greediness to expect further more happiness.

My annual earnings or even lifelong earnings all put together is nothing compared to a days expenditure of Mukesh Ambani. I let him live happily without comments/complaints on anything and everyone should, accordingly. As for the "remarks", someone (from equal quarters) should raise them when necessary before its too late. As the "remarks" itself stands on solid ground, it should sustain.

What Mr. Ratan Tata said is absolutely true. Mr. Tata was born
in affluence, and he has genes in
    him of charity and compassion.
But, Mr. Ambani was born in a very
    ordinary condition in Bombay.
As the world is looking to the
rich and worship them as great
successful people, some of them may
be slipping into a totally blind mindset of
    creating the biggest of everything
acquire the biggest respect from the world.

Mr. Ambani made this huge mansion
one floor dedicated to keep his
700 car collection. He can see
every day from his mansion, a
    black wide beltway looking thing
    around his house. Thousands of
human being like him are struggling
there to fill the stomack and living in horrible condition.
Did he do anything for them?

Mr. Warren Buffet is living in the
same area where he was born and
brought up. His only luxury of
life, he has confessed that it was
a 6 million dollar jet plane for
travel. He has already given away
    billions to charity, like one
cheack for 38 billion dollars to
Bill Gates Foundation. Both of them are not going to give everything to their children, but a few millions, but the billions are going to be given away
to wipe the tears of the suffering
people around the world. Millions of people around the world are
    now pondering the mindset of
Ambani for making such a house
    amidst the extremely suffering
    people.

There is enough for everyones need, but not for everyones greed - says Gandhiji. Its very true, in our rich country there handfuls who are never satisfied with wealth. Its time that we share with the less privileged in society. Ambanis - its time that you open your eyes and hearts for the poorer of India
