Mangaluru: Young Steevan seeks financial help for kidney, pancreas transplant surgery

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Jan 12: Accidents and unexpected illness can disrupt life in unimaginable ways. The tragic story of Steevan D'Souza, a youth struggling between life and death due to chronic renal (kidney) failure, is a grave example of how life can catch you unawares.

Steevan is the eldest son of Veronica Saritha D'Souza, a housewife and late Francis D'Souza.  When Steevan was one-year-old, he developed illness all of a sudden. His parents got him medicines from a local pharmacist and he got better in a few days. But when the illness repeated they took him for a specialised examination where they came to know that he is suffering from diabetes.

When he turned 22 again he went for a specialised examination. After the examination he has been advised to undergo kidney and pancreas transplant. The cost of surgery will cost around  Rs 20 to 25 lacs. The post transplant immunosuppression will cost around Rs 25,000 to 30,000 a month for the first 6 months.

Steevans' family resides in a rental house at Valencia and his mother could not even imagine the huge amount required for her son's surgery. She also would have to manage her daughter's education and daily expenses of a family.

Young Steevan's  life is hanging by a thread. Without urgent help, he would lose his  life, all his dreams and aspirations. This is his only chance to get back his life.

The mother and sister have requested kind-hearted readers of Daijiworld and donors to help them save Steevan's life. They believe generous assistance from readers would help them bear the exorbitant cost of the kidney transplant.
