Mumbai, May 31 (PTI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) would soon erect a bust statue of assistant sub-inspector Tukaram Ombale, who was killed while fighting against the terrorists on 26/11 at Girgaum Chowpatty here.
The standing committee of the civic body, at its meeting held yesterday, unanimously resolved to erect the bust, to salute Ombale's sacrifice.
Ombale was killed when he tried to capture lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab and his partner Abu Ismail, who was later killed by police near Girgaum Chowpatty during the 26/11 terror attacks that brought the financial capital to a standstill for three days.
"We should not forget the brave police officers, who lost their lives while fighting the terrorists at Taj, Oberoi and CST. We must remember the contribution they made for the country and so we urge the civic body to put up a statue of Ombale," a corporator said.
