Udupi: 59-yr-old man dies while plucking arecanut as tree breaks

Udupi, Jan 15: A man who was plucking arecanut died as the tree broke dropping him to the ground.

Shyam Anchan (59), a resident of Matadabettu, near the city bus stand, is identified as the deceased. The incident occurred on January 12.

The tragedy occurred when Shyam was plucking the arecanuts from a tree. A seriously injured Shyam was admitted to Manipal hospital but he succumbed to injuries.

He is survived by his wife and a son. He was running a bakery under partnership at Parkala.
