Koppala: Police arrest three roosters sans their owners: Animal lovers aggrieved

Daijiworld Media Network - Koppala

Koppala, Jan 19: In a peculiar incident, roosters involved in gambling activities have been put behind bars by the Karatagi town police in Koppala district.

The police got wind of information that there was a cockfight contest in progress on the outskirts of Basavanna camp. ASI Basavaraj and his team raided the location where the cockfight contest was on. On seeing the police gatecrash the contest, all the players involved and including owners of the animals fled the scene. But, they left the domestic fowls behind.

The police were supposed to chase the gamblers and apprehend them. Instead they took three roosters and nine bikes into their possession. The bikes were seen parked outside the police station while the cocks were put behind bars in the police station.

Three roosters are in the police station and it has become the responsibility of the cops to look after them since Monday. But, the police move to arrest the fowls has piqued the animal lovers as they felt that the owners of the animals should have been arrested and not the animals.

The police are now peculiarly placed as they have to produce these animals before the court to secure their release.

I urge severe punishment to these roosters for being a part of illegal game. They should be killed, skinned, marinated with masalas and should be made a part of 'Kattada korida gasi'!

Before, people were carrying roosters alongwith them in the buses....and these roosters were crying in their usual tone. If thats happening now then, there would have been more arrests and more bails and flavs would have enjoyed everyday ....

Then Kambala involving buffalos too should be illegal. This police raid is super gambling taking the possession of the rooster for gala night party by misusing power. Why will the owner come back to claim thier roosters????…
