Mangaluru, Jan 31: A class 9 student studying at a private school here died by suicide as he was rebuked by his mother over excessive usage of mobile phone. The tragedy occurred on Monday January 30.

The deceased is identified as Jnanesh (14), residing at Red Bricks Apartments at Kotimura, Padavu B village.

Jnanesh is the son of Jagadish and Vinaya. It is said that he was a mischievous boy. His mother scolded him for using mobile phone continuously.

On Monday, he was upset due to his mother’s rebuke and said that he will have bath and return. As he did not return for a long time, his father Jagadish peeped from the window of the bathroom and saw that Jnanesh had hanged himself to the ceiling. Though he was brought down and the veil used for hanging was cut, Jnanesh had breathed his last.

A case in this regard is filed at Kankanady city police station.

OmShanti. Children must engage their parents , siblings, neighbors, grand parents etc.instead of gluing to mobile. At least both can exchange their views, thoughts and help each other . Electronic gadgets ruin life after getting addicted to it. It is up to the parents not to buy a individual phone for the child .

Online classes have made things worse after covid-19. Now kids can't even do homework without mobile phones. Don't let your children use gadgets to the point of addiction. Once addicted you need to be careful how you control them. Force and abuse is a big no !!

Best thing is don't produce children.hereafter children will be more headache for parents. When children are small everyone feel like playing with them and love them.but as they grow parents feel sorry for giving birth.in future you will not get peace as children grow as long as mobile exists

Children watch us, listen to what we talk . Parents of this generation talk among themselves and with others only about the difficulties of raising kids. Not about joys of raising children. So obviously our children will think having children is a big burden. First parents have to change their behavior. Then blame children. Did we ever heard our parents talking like we do?

Many young children who didn't even know the meaning of suicide are found dead. The reason is the internet and TV channels which show only news related to crimes for their profits. This is creating a bad impact on children. Schools and colleges should hold sessions related to addictions and suicide awareness every year.

Heartbreaking incident... This type of incident happened recently in Brahmagiri, Udupi where a 11 year old girl committed suicide... These are eye openers for high tempered parents to slow down and train their own minds for more patience... RIP to the young soul...

Does a 9 std kid need mobile? Didn't we all grow up without mobiles. Parents spoil their children and then this happens. Don't give everything they ask.
