PM Voices Concern Over Paid News Syndrome

New Delhi, June 7 (PTI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today expressed concern over the paid news syndrome saying it was unfortunate that some journalists forget their dignity for petty gains.

Presenting the K C Kulish International Awards instituted by Hindi daily 'Rajasthan Patrika' to African journalists at a function here, he said journalists at times do not remember that distorting the news in the temptation of making them sensational can cause a huge damage to society.

"I am confident that people concerned with the media will try to remove lacunae in the coming days," he said.

Talking about the challenges before the media today, the Prime Minister said that in the fast-changing world, everybody should strive to ensure that no instability and tension is created in society.
