Mangaluru: Sandesha Awards 2023 conferred on nine eminent personalities

Mangaluru Feb 7: The Sandesha Awards 2023 was conferred on nine eminent personalities in a grand award ceremony held at Sandesha Institute grounds on Tuesday, February 7.

  • Sandesha Literature Award (Konkani)–Andrew L D’Cunha
  • Sandesha Konkani Music Award–Joyce Ozario
  • Sandesha Literature Award (Kannada)–Raghavendra Patil
  • Sandesha Literature Award (Tulu)–Chinnappa Gowda
  • Sandesha Media Award–Shivaji Ganeshan
  • Sandesha Art Award–M S Murthy
  • Sandesha Education Award–Kotiganahalli Ramaiah
  • Sandesha Special Award–Prerana Resource Centre
  • Sandesha Best Teacher Award–Sabiha Bhoomigowda

Addressing the gathering, bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said,’ Sandesha Foundation has recognised their work and their contribution for which they are conferred with Sandesha award. Nine eminent personalities have achieved a lot in their life. We need to learn a lot from them on how we can contribute to society and work for it."

Chairman of Alvas Educational Institutions Dr M Mohan Alva said, "We have witnessed since several years how Sandesha Foundation has been recognising the achievers and honouring them with Sandesha Award. I congratulate all the achievers and wish the best for their future endeavours.
Bishop of Bellary Dr Henry D'Souza said, "We need to prioritize maintaining the environment, good relations, harmony, peace in the society for a better way of living. It is the need of the hour to build good relations among each other. The nine achievers who are conferred with Sandesha Award are an inspiration for each one of us."

Meanwhile Sandesha Award Jury Committee chairman Dr Valerian Rodrigues and members Dr Na Da Shetty, Concepta Alva, Chandrakala Nandavara and Rafiq Master were honoured.

Trustee of Sandesha Foundation Fr Ivan Pinto was also present.

Director of Sandesh Foundation Fr Sudeep Paul welcomed the gathering, trustee of Sandesha Roy Castelino proposed a vote of thanks and Irene Rebello compered the event.

Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, Mangaluru started in the year 1989 and was registered as charitable institution in the year 1991. It aims to build a value based society and tries to foster harmony by encouraging and supporting the art, culture, education and folklore related activities. It is also an educational institution which trains students at various levels in music, dance, art and painting. It also conducts courses in journalism, media education, public speaking and other similar courses. It organises workshops on drama, poetry, media and other related subjects.
